“In our continuing efforts to establish strong bonds with the Central American community in our city, the New Bedford police department held its second annual Christmas event yesterday at “Our Lady of Guadalupe” church on County St.

Some of our amazing Spanish-speaking officers were in attendance, along with more of our department’s finest, all on a mission to put smiling faces on some truly adorable children. Families were treated to lunch with Santa Claus, who of course brought along with him a massive sleigh of toys. These toys were handed out to the elated children by our officers and some very special helpers. A great time was had by all!!

We’d like to thank the clergy and congregation of Our Lady of Guadalupe for opening up their church to us and bringing in the crowd.

Thank you McDonald’s for the food and generous donation! Additionally, we appreciate all of the food donated to the event by Domino’s Pizza and Dunkin Donuts! Thank you also to New Bedford Mitsubishi for their donation! All the best to you.

Also, a very special thanks to members of the Saint Gabriel the Arch Angel Parish volunteers and youth group for their invaluable help.

Last but certainly not least, many thanks to the “Stuff The Bus” toy drive and each of you out there who donated the toys that made this event possible.

This truly is the best time of the year!”-City of New Bedford Police Department.
