Georgia football got a massive commitment from 5-star Samuel M’Pemba on Sunday evening, and he is the first of many dominos that will fall this month. Early Signing Day is Dec. 21, so the next few weeks will focus on Ohio State and closing out another top-three recruiting class. There will be some double duty, but it’s something Georgia is used to.

The Dawgs got a huge momentum boost by adding M’Pemba because he was one of the hottest commodities in the 2023 recruiting class. He had around 40 offers and picked Georgia over Tennessee, LSU, and Miami. Georgia has waited a while to get this commitment, but it’s well worth the wait because the next few weeks should feature a lot of news surrounding the Dawgs.

M’Pemba is just the first of many who will join the Dawgs’ 2023 recruiting class because of what Georgia is doing right now — who wouldn’t want to play for the Dawgs? The Dawgs have already flipped Anthony Evans, a speedy receiver that picked Oklahoma initially, but Georgia stayed on him and got the flip.

At 6-3.5 and 240 pounds, the five-star is what Georgia looks for as an edge rusher. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 30 overall player, the No. 4 edge rusher and the No. 8 player out of Florida. He went to IMG Academy for his senior season.

This commitment is enormous for Chidera Uzo Diribe, his primary recruiter. It seems like he liked Georgia’s winning mentality, which was one reason for picking the Dawgs. His family has ties to West Africa through his mother, Mimi. Soccer was his first love, but eventually, American football took over for him.

M’Pemba will play in the Under Armour All-American game in January that can play both sides of the ball. He plays tight end on top of being a strong edge rusher. His length is elite, and M’Pemba’s athletic ability shows how much upside he has. He is a freakish athlete, which Georgia can work with because that upside will be helpful in developing him.

Georgia now has 22 kids in the 2023 recruiting class and currently ranks No.2 overall behind No.1 Alabama. However, there has been a lot of movement going on in the last couple of weeks, so who knows? Georgia could take over that No.1 spot, but some things would have to happen.

The biggest takeaway is that Georgia has many dominos that will start falling now that M’Pemba has made his commitment public. This 2023 class is full of studs and guys ready to wear that Power G and keep this new breed of Georgia football going.
