NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Fourteen members of a New York gang called the "Double Nine Grim Reapers," including the gang’s two co-founders, were charged with committing various racketeering, narcotics, and firearms offenses, authorities said Tuesday.

“Today’s indictment against 14 members of the Grimz gang includes myriad charges of violence and drug trafficking that typically accompany gang activity and inflict harm in our communities," U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said. "The charges brought today include two of the gang’s co-founders and are a significant step in the dismantling of this dangerous criminal organization.”

The men included in the indictment were Jeremy Williams and Randy Jones, the two cofounders of the Double Nine Grim Reapers gang which was also known as Grimz. They face racketeering charges.

Three of the men, Justice Jackson, Tyrell Simon, Thomas Rodriguez and Marcus Cardona were charged with attempted murder and assault of a rival gang member after a shooting at a rival gang member on Nov. 3, 2020, in Newburgh, New York sending him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Jackson and Williams were also charged with an armed robbery of a drug dealer, according to officials. On Nov. 10, 2020, the pair committed a gunpoint robbery of a rival drug dealer and shot him in Newburgh, court documents show.

From at least 2019 to 2021, several other members of Grimz including Messiah Jackson, Octavius Griffin, Markell Williams, Tyrell Simon and Shamell Williams committed armed robberies of rival drug dealers and shot their victims in Newburgh, authorities said.

The gang also allegedly trafficked large amounts of narcotics across Newburgh and various other parts of the state. From at least 2018 to recently, the gang, including other members like Paul Ayala, Elijah Briggs and Joshua Hendricks sold a substantial amount of drugs including crack cocaine, heroin, Oxycodone, marijuana and K2. As part of their rug dealing, the men possessed numerous firearms.

Twelve of the charged gang members, whose ages range from 22 to 43, are in police custody. Briggs and Cardona have not been arrested. The men all face at least 20 years in prison with some looking at a life sentence.
